CORNERBOY
Cornerboy is an experimental short dance film by Kai Kurve.
The film follows a “bad boy” who becomes possessed by a fly, a symbolic figure representing the devil, death or karma. This possession forces him into a confrontation with his own personality and inner conflicts.
Blending dance, physical performance and genre elements, Cornerboy explores the idea of inner demons and self-reflection through movement rather than dialogue.
The fly acts as a catalyst rather than a literal antagonist, triggering an intense internal struggle that unfolds through choreography and visual metaphor and the voice of the fly that gives the viewer enough hints to understand the storyline.
The film has been screened at numerous international festivals, like Camerimage, and has received over 25 awards worldwide, including a bronze Cube at the NY ADC.
